On the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, the Laba Festival is celebrated. On that day every family eats laba porridge. Long ago, there was an old couple and a young couple who lived happily together. The old couple did all the housework.The young couple led an easy life, and did not know how to do anything. When the old couple died, the young couple ate up all the food in the house .Then they sold the house and were left with only a straw shed. Winter came, and the couple were cold and hungry in their shed.On the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month , they found some grain from the corners of the shed and cooked a pot of porridge. However, a wind blew their shed down, and they were killed. Since that time,parents cook porridge on the Laba Festival ,and teach their childen about the lazy couple. |
