so Many Ways originated as the brain child of guitarists Murphy Welch, Jason Milbank and then-bassist Casey Weyant writing songs in their tiny, cramped practice space. Not long after in January of 2009, after several text message conversations about great hardcore bands between Welch and friend Colin Corley, Colin joined the band on lead vocals. Upon returning to Chicago from their winter break later that month, drummer extraordinaire Bill Kohler joined the band as well. After playing a couple shows in the Chicago area, So Many Ways relocated to Westborough, Massachusetts to record their debut EP entitled “Real Talk” with producer Jay Maas (Bane, Verse, Title Fight).

The result was a 4-song pop-punk EP, showcasing the bands influences ranging from bands such as New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, and the Wonder Years. With a new EP under their belt and many great friends in bands in the Chicago area (Devon Kay & The Solutions, The Rememberwhens, Three Cent Cinema), SMW is looking to play shows in the Chicago area and eventually, all over the country.
