(Associate) Account Director [DIGITAL DEPARTMENT]
I. Job Summary
A. Purpose
Integrate the digital resources of Ruder Finn BJ and manage related communications programs and special projects.? Lead new business development and support organizational initiatives.? Manage growth and development of staff.
B. Business Objectives
To add value, maintain and grow business in the digital area.
II. Primary Responsibilities
Develop and grow senior level client relationships.
Develop and pitch new business opportunities for RF in the digital area.
Maintain and grow existing client business in the digital area.
Provide counsel, strategy and direction of accounts.
Productively provide ideas to client to maximize communications results and/or anticipate issues.
Manage profitability and financial aspects of accounts.
Manage and develop account staff.
Develop original research, surveys and market studies for existing and new business proposals in the digital area
Develop complete communications plan for client.
Maintain industry contacts to stay informed on current industry affairs.
III. Organizational Associations
A. Supervision
Reports to:
The Account Director reports to a Vice President or Senior Vice President. Works under little supervision.
Supervises:
The Account Director may supervise Associate Account Directors, Senior Consultants, Consultants, Senior Account Executives, Account Executives, Assistant Account Executives and other staff members, as needed. An Account Director contributes to the professional development of his/her staff.
B. Internal Communications and/or External Contacts
The Account Director oversees work for the client with account handlers, external vendors, news media, and other Ad/PR agencies.? An Account Director also works with senior account handlers and senior personnel at the client.
IV. Skills Required
Internet background preferred.
Digital experiences required.
Ability to plan strategically and globally.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to supervise and motivate account staff.
Ability to manage, lead and inspire a whole team.
Ability to handle and manage stressful situations.
Ability to develop and present new business pitches.
Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
Strong ability to develop and deliver presentations and pitches to clients.
Ability to think creatively.
Strong problem solving skills.
Ability to write strategic materials for clients.
Strong client management skills and experience.
With solid knowledge and great interests in ePR.
V. Recommended Background
Extensive professional experience.
Comprehensive understanding of client, practice and industry.
Comprehensive experience in and understanding of public relations.
In-depth knowledge of media relations from key trade publications to business and consumer media.
University degree.
