1、Water Applications  与水处理有关的应用领域

1.1  Drinking Water/ Municipal Drinking Water/Potable Water  饮用水处理

    Activated carbon is used successfully for purification and remediation of surfacewater or groundwater. These water sources can be treated by Powdered Activated Carbon, Granular Activated Carbon and Extruded Activated Carbon.

    In potable water treatment, activated carbon has been used to remove taste, odor, microorganisms, and dissolved organic chemicals.

    For drinking water treatment, activated carbon adsorption is an  effective and low-cost technological method.

    活性炭被成功地应用于地表水和地下水的净化处理。用于饮用水源处理的活性炭品种有粉状活性炭、颗粒活性炭和挤出成型活性炭(即圆柱状活性炭)等。

    活性炭可去除饮用水源中的异嗅、异味、微生物和溶解性有机化合物等成分。

1.1.5  Taste and Odor Removal  脱除异嗅和异味

    With so many different sources of undesirable tastes and odors in drinking water, a versatile and reliable method of removing these tastes and odors is needed. Some selected granular and powdered activated carbon products provide an effective solution for taste and odor removal.

    由于有许多物质可引起饮用水具有令人不愉快的异嗅和异味,故需要寻求一种多功能的可靠的技术方法来脱除这些异嗅和异味。某些精制的颗粒状及粉状活性炭产品可符合这一要求。

1.1.8  Perchlorate Removal and Destruction  高氯酸盐的脱除和销毁

    Medical studies have shown that when ingested perchlorate - a key component of explosives, fireworks, matches, and rocket fuels - interferes with normal functioning of the thyroid gland. The compound is stable in groundwater, and is present in a significant number of water sources. The special activated carbon products and facilities packed these activated carbons have developed for perchlorate removal and destruction.

    医学研究表明,摄入高氯酸盐(一种用于xx、烟花爆竹、火柴及火箭推进燃料的关键组分)会阻碍甲状腺的正常机能。这种化合物可稳定地保持在地下水中,同时也被发现存在于各类水源体。

    Many drinking water sources require removal of organic compounds for health or aesthetic reasons. Granular activated carbon products and home water filtration systems and equipment have been used for years as a cost-effective and reliable solution to VOC/THM/pesticide/organic removal, for both point of entry (POE) and point of use (POU) filtration systems.

    出于健康或外观方面的原因,要求将水源中的有机化合物尽可能多地被脱除掉。颗粒活性炭产品和家用水过滤系统和过滤装置做为低成本的、可靠的脱除水中可挥发性有机物、三卤甲烷、杀虫剂和其它有机物的方法,已应用了许多年。家庭用的水过滤系统和过滤装置既可安装于进水端,亦可安装于出水终端(水嘴)。

 

1.3.3  NDMA Destruction  亚硝基二甲胺的销毁处理

    It is now believed that NDMA (N-nitrosodimethylamine), found in rocket fuels, is also produced in wastewater treatment plants. A known carcinogen, it presents a public health problem when even trace amounts are present in drinking water. The special activated carbon products and facilities packed these activated carbons can be used to remove-off and destruct NDMA from drinding water.

    经确认,以前曾在火箭燃料中发现的亚硝基二甲胺(NDMA)在污水处理厂也有产生。做为已知的一种致癌物,即使在饮用水中仅有痕量存在也会引起公共健康问题。特制的活性炭产品及装填有这种活性炭吸附剂的装置能脱去并销毁饮用水中的NDMA物质。

1.4.1  Activated Sludge Enhancement  活性污泥的强化

    Powdered activated carbon is sometimes used by industrial and municipal wastewater treatment facilities to buffer the biological process, and to allow the facility to continuously meet discharge permit requirements. Powdered activated carbons are ideally suited for activated sludge enhancement.

    粉状活性炭有时被生活及工业污水处理厂用作生物处理工序的缓冲剂(当污染物浓度突然上升时,使用粉状活性炭先将正常生物负荷不能处理完成的过量污染物吸附,当污染负荷正常时再缓释到液相由生物处理掉——译者注),使处理厂排放的水质能连续地符合法规限值要求。粉状活性炭是较好的活性污泥强化剂。

1.4.4  Landfill Leachate(Groundwater/Wastewater)Treatment垃圾填埋场沥滤液(含污地下水/废水)的处理

    Current technology for installation and management of landfills mitigates against leaks through landfill liner or cap design and installation practice, but many older installations have leached into the area beneath and in the vicinity - not only the surrounding unsaturated ground, but also often reaching the water table and groundwater. To prevent further environmental damage, both ground and groundwater in the vicinity of these landfills often require treatment. For the unsaturated zone, soil vapor extraction techniques have proven to be effective. For extraction and treatment of the groundwater, the Activated Carbon Adsorption is an effective solution to landfill leachate treatment that provides for organic contaminant removal and allows for discharge.

    Current design landfill design may also incorporate effective collection of landfill leachates before they reach the surrounding groundwater. This water can be collected in pipes or trenches, or can migrate into the shallow groundwater, which is collected using clay barriers and withdrawal wells. This water can then be collected for treatment and discharge. Activated Carbon is a landfill leachate adsorption that removes organic compounds from this collected wastewater.

    为避免发生液体或气体污染物泄漏,目前新建的垃圾填埋场都采用了防渗透地基设计和“覆盖帽”式设计,但许多较早投入使用的垃圾场的沥滤液则会直接渗入其下方及周边区域(不仅会渗入周围的水不饱和性土壤,而且经受能够到达含水层和地下水层)。为防止进一步的环境侵害,垃圾填埋场附近范围的土地及地下水均被要求进行处理。对于水不饱和性区域,土壤的蒸汽抽提技术被证明有效。而对于受到垃圾沥滤液污染的地下水,活性炭吸附技术是脱除其中有机物以实现达标排放的有效的技术方法。

2.2  Incinerator Flue Gas: Mercury / Dioxin Removal焚烧炉烟气治理:汞及二恶英(戴奥辛)的脱除

    Various facilities that employ combustion or incineration processes (including municipal waste incinerators, hazardous waste incinerators, and medical waste facilities) require safe, easy, and cost-effective methods of mercury and/or dioxin control to meet strict federal regulations. Special selected Powder Activated Carbon can offer a solution for mercury/dioxin removal that satisfies all of these requirements.

2.4.2 Desulphurization & Denitration  脱硫和脱硝

    Sulphur Oxides and Nitrogen Oxides are two major emissions released in the flue gas of coal-fired power plants. The granular or pallet activated carbon or active coke products can be used as adsorbent for Sulphur Oxides, at the same time they can convert Nitrogen Oxides and extraneous ammonia into nitrogen by Selective Catalytic Reaction.

2.10  Solvent Recovery  溶剂回收

    In meeting regulatory standards for the removal of VOC emissions - and new imperatives for waste and cost reduction - efficient solvent recovery systems are a high priority in chemicals processing. Activated Carbon Adsorption is a proven technologies in cost-effective solvent recovery.

2.15  Air Stripper Off-Gas: VOC Control气提机排气VOC控制

    Air stripping is a common method of removing VOCs from groundwater. During the process, contaminants from the water being treated are transferred to the air used in the stripping process. Consequently, air exiting the air stripper may contain unacceptable amounts of VOCs. Activated carbons can be used for removal of VOCs from air stripper off-gas.

    气提技术是一种常用的脱除地下水中的可挥发性有机物(VOCs)的方法。在气提机运行过程中,污染物质从被处理的水中转移到使用的空气气流中。因此,从气提机排出的空气可能会含有超过允许量的VOC成分,活性炭可用来脱除气提机尾气中的VOC物质。

 

2.17  Soil Vapor Extraction / Soil Venting: VOC Removal  被污染土壤汽提/污染土壤排气:可挥发性有机物的脱除

    Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) is a common method of removing VOCs from the vadose, or unsaturated zone, which is the area between the ground surface and the water table. Organic compounds from leaks or other sources migrate slowly through this area, sometimes held up indefinitely by the soil, and if allowed to reach the water table will begin to contaminate groundwater sources. The SVE method passes air through this zone, volatilizing the organic compounds and removing them in the air stream before they reach the water table. As this process transfers the contaminants from the soil or ground being treated to the air used in the stripping process, the air exiting the SVE process may contain unacceptable amounts of VOCs. Activated carbons can be used for VOC removal from SVE vent gas.

3、Other Applications 其它应用领域

3.1  Mercaptan Removal  硫醇的去除

    Light straight run gasoline, lower-boiling range distillates and other non-hydrotreated fuels ("sour stocks") contain sulfur compounds such as mercaptans, that must be removed ("extraction/sweetening") to avoid problems with odor and corrosion, or prior to catalytic reforming and catalytic alkylation processes. Activated carbon products especially designed can offer a mercaptan removal solution to provide catalyst support for desulfurization processes treating petroleum distillates.

    轻质直馏汽油、低沸点蒸馏油和其它未经加氢处理过的燃油(“发酵原料”)含有硫醇类硫化物,须采取措施(“抽提/脱臭”)将其去除以免引起异嗅或腐蚀问题,或者须在催化重整和催化烷基化反应工序之前将其脱除以避免毒化催化剂。经特殊设计的活性炭产品可对石油馏份进行脱硫处理,脱除这些硫醇类物质以保护催化剂。

3.4.1  Food and Beverage Industry  在食品及饮料工业中的应用

    Activated carbon products and services have been used many years for the food and beverage industry. A variety of activated carbon products are available to purify water containing trihalomethanes (THMs), color, chlorine/chloramine, and synthetic organic compounds (SOCs) such as herbicides and pesticides. Activated carbon is also used for sugar and syrup de-colorization.

    活性炭产品和装置已在食品和饮料加工业应用了多年,各种活性炭产品可用来脱除水源中的三卤甲烷(THMs)、发色物质、氯/氯胺、以及合成有机化合物(SOCs)如除草剂和杀虫剂,最终制备食品和饮料加工所需的纯水。活性炭还被用于食糖及糖浆的脱色。

3.4.2  Sugar Purification食糖提纯

    Juice purification, corn syrup deashing, beat sugar purification and sweetener decolorization are practiced daily in many Ion Exchange Separations and Activated Carbon Adsorption installations. The chromatographic systems and the activated carbon adsorption systems can continuous separate sorbitol, mannitol, sucralose, fructose and xylose.

    Sugar recovery from molasses and betaine recovery are standard applications with the chromatographic systems and the activated carbon adsorption systems. Sucrose sugars are treated with specialty activated carbons to decolorize and purify.

    采用离子交换分离装置和活性炭吸附分离装置进行果汁纯化、玉米糖浆脱灰、甜菜糖纯化、甜味剂脱色的工厂日益增多。采用色析技术系统和活性炭吸附系统可以连续地分离出山梨醇、甘露醇、蔗糖素(糖精的一种。译者注)、左旋糖和木糖。

3.6  Semiconductor Industry  半导体工业

    Granular activated carbon is one of the key technologies used to produce high purity water in three segments of the semiconductor industry - IC Water/DRAM, TFT/LCD, and PCB (printer circuit bank).

    The UV Oxidation systems are used to destroy organics and other TOCs. The activated carbon solvent recovery or VOC abatement systems are used to process crystal preparation, water fabrication and printed circuit boards. Engineered Solutions for point source emissions control are also available.

    半导体制造业的三个重要元件——IC/DRAM(集成电路/动态随机存储器)、TFT/LCD(薄膜晶体管/液晶显示器)、PCB(印刷电路板)——制造过程所需的高纯水制备技术中,颗粒活性炭是关键技术单元之一。
