编者按：摩曼斯克海洋生物研究所是前苏联时代建立的一所专门研究生物学、海洋学以及海洋生态学的研究所，由于建在北极圈内的摩曼斯克东北约150公里处（达尔尼·斋伦采，Dalnie Zelentsy），大概是世界上纬度{zg}的研究所之一。1989年该研究所搬进了摩曼斯克城里，先前的研究所旧址等已经废弃。最近俄罗斯网友拍摄了一组描述该研究所被废弃的旧址照片，看上去也是极其心酸的一件事。

该研究所最早是由苏联的俄罗斯科学院于1935年建立的，主要从事北冰洋地区的海洋研究工作，研究的地域范围逐步从达尔内支兰尼茨基湾扩展到冰岛至拉普捷夫海之间的广阔海域。1996年摩曼斯克海洋生物研究所的研究范围进一步扩展到较南方的海域，现在主要集中在巴伦支海和亚述海的研究。

该研究所的故事实际上可以从十九世纪的后半叶，1881年，说起，经俄罗斯自然科学家协会的倡议建立起了最早的海洋生物学研究站。

19世纪末海洋生物学研究站搬到了靠近北极圈的地方，到1935年它变成了苏联科学院的摩曼斯克生物学研究站，1958年经重新组建后成立了摩曼斯克海洋生物研究所。1989年它迁到了摩曼斯克城里。

1989年在顿河畔的罗斯托夫建立了一个海洋学及海洋生物学研究室，2001年开始从事亚述海的研究工作。1999年在库拉湾建立了北方海洋生物学研究站，2001年在斯匹次卑尔根群岛开始了科研基地的重建工作，该处曾经是研究所最活跃的研究领域。
