The present phases are identified and the nanometer and submicron level microstructure of the parts, produced at different scanning speeds, are characterized. A sound qualitative explanation for the formation and the non-formation of the nano-sized phase in relation to the process parameters is given.
This paper is relevant for researchers in the field of Additive Manufacturing, in specific Selective Laser Melting and in the field of the production of nanomaterials. The authors do demonstrate the formation of the nano-sized phase and give a qualitative, but sound explanation about the formation this phase in relation to the specific process conditions.
