Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has good chemical stability and good thermal stability, large surface area, high surface activity, is an excellent solid lubricant and catalyst. With the MoS2 particle size becoming smaller, it’s adhesiveness to the surface of friction material and coverage has increased significantly, antiwear performance is also improved significantly.
It has been reported that when the nanotechnology is used as the N46 molybdenum disulfide lubricating oil additives, it can significantly improve the performance of machinery lubrication oil, and the performance is better than adding the ordinary machinery of molybdenum disulfide oil. Now there have been some preparation of ultrafine powders of molybdenum disulfide or molybdenum disulfide nano-powder method, but most of molybdenum disulfide powder synthesis methods exist complex process, and low yield problems. It is difficult to achieve industrial production. Thus molybdenum disulfide powder technology research is necessary.
